Commission a Bespoke Sculpture

Boldstone is the studio of British sculptor Sally Price, working from Midford Road near Bath in South West England since 1998. We design and make bespoke wall sculpture, contemporary relief panels, water features and sculptural furnishings for private homes, gardens, hotels and commercial interiors, and we ship throughout the UK and internationally.

What we make to commission

Commissions range from a single hand-finished relief panel for a fireplace, hallway or garden wall through to large-scale, multi-panel installations for hotel lobbies, restaurants, spas and commercial receptions. Alongside wall sculpture and water features, we make sculptural furnishings such as tables and consoles, developed to suit a specific interior scheme.

How the commissioning process works

  1. Enquiry. Tell us about the setting, the approximate dimensions, whether the piece is for interior or exterior use, and your budget and timescale.

  2. Design consultation. We discuss scale, composition, material and finish by call, or at the studio near Bath, and review the wall or site conditions.

  3. Proposal and quotation. You receive a design proposal with drawings, a specification of materials and finishes, a quotation and a production timeline.

  4. Making. The work is hand-sculpted and hand-finished in the studio.

  5. Delivery and installation. Finished work is dispatched within 7 business days of completion. We advise on fixings, liaise with your architect, landscape designer or contractor, and can oversee installation.

Materials and finishes

Works are produced in glass-fibre-reinforced polymers blended with natural stone powders and resins, in gypsum-based materials, and in metals including foundry-cast bronze. Finishes include White Marble, Bath Stone, Natural Stone, Marbled Stone and Antique Bronze, among others. Reliefs can be cast hollow or solid to suit your wall type and its weight limits, and we confirm exact weights and recommend suitable fixings during consultation.

Lead times

Allow at least 6 to 8 weeks for a bespoke commission, depending on scale and complexity. Larger architectural and hospitality installations need longer, and we agree a programme with you at proposal stage. Made-to-order designs bought from the online shop are typically ready in 2 to 4 weeks.

Garden and outdoor commissions

Many pieces are made for exterior walls, courtyards and landscaped gardens, including nature-inspired reliefs and wall-mounted water features. Outdoor finishes are weather-resistant, and we advise on fixings and long-term maintenance for your particular site and aspect.

Working with interior designers, architects and hospitality clients

We work directly with design teams and specifiers on residential, hospitality and commercial projects. That includes technical information on panel weights and fixing methods, and liaison with architects, landscape designers and contractors through to installation. Sculptural furniture and wall panels can be developed as bespoke pieces for a particular scheme.

Delivery in the UK and worldwide

Commissions are delivered throughout the UK and internationally, including to the USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. Very large or heavy sculptures are quoted as separate custom freight. International clients are responsible for any local duties, taxes or customs fees.
